WP 6 - Consumer behavior
WP6 has the purpose of uncovering end user behavior and preferences related to smart grid and smart home technologies, as the mobilization of the ”consumption-flexible prosumers” is of vital importance for the realization of a future flexible energy system based on renewables.
Scientific objectives and anticipated results :
WP6 has the scientific objective to increase the insight in the role of end-users in relation to flexible demand side units. This involves increasing the knowledge on user behaviour and preferences in relation to smart grid and smart home technologies and which changes in everyday practices these technologies may lead to. The research activities will provide important insights on consumer behavior, user preferences and new and changed everyday practices that emerge in relation to flexible energy demand management. These results will be shared with the rest of the iPower platform through workshops, articles and reports.
Innovative objectives and anticipated results:
In parallel with the technology-centered innovation, which is a central part of the SPIR project, WP6 wishes to put its focus on the consumer- and market perspective as an important key to developing new business opportunities when it comes to the consumption of energy in private homes. The innovative objectives of WP6 is to work in a dynamic interaction between research and innovation, where research findings guide innovation, and innovation processes and results create the platform for new research findings and studies. With an emphasis on value creation for the end user, the anticipated results of the innovative activities are descriptions of user interests and acceptances influencing the market introduction of flexible demand side units, which combined with a toolbox for user-oriented innovation will serve as input for developing new products, systems and services with exemplary business cases.
