WP 3 - Distribution Grid Operation

The purpose of this work package is to examine the challenges to the distributions grids introduced by fluctuating RES and a large number of EVs and HPs in the consumption. This for example includes a huge number of heat pumps starting-up at the same time after a black-out. The traditional approach in handling these challenges will be to invest in bigger cables, transformers, etc. however new control and communication technology offers new and more intelligent solutions, which probably will be cheaper than the traditional approach. Therefore this new approach will be investigated in order to develop new and cheaper solutions for the distribution grid.
